LONDON (AFP) - Former Turkish international midfielder Tugay looks likely to extend his stay at Premiership side Blackburn Rovers by signing a one year contract it was revealed on Monday.
The 37-year-old, who has played over 200 times since joining from Rangers for 1.3million pounds in 2001, is the oldest outfield player in the Premier League.
Rovers chief executive John Williams has revealed a verbal understanding has been reached to keep the former Turkey star - who was an integral member of the Turkish side that reached the 2002 World Cup semi-finals - for an eighth year.
The new deal is thought to be on a pay-as-you-play basis and will involve a coaching role.
