We continue our review of the 2007-08 season…
February
A short month brought just three league games for Sunderland due
to their FA Cup demise, and it provided boss Roy Keane with the
opportunity to take his players for one of his now famous
team-bonding exercises.
The Black Cats started February disappointingly, with a 1-0
defeat at Liverpool, but they continued their excellent home form
just a week later with a 2-0 win at home to Wigan.
It provided Sunderland with their only points of the month,
however, as they failed to add to that when they went to
Portsmouth.
Sunderland's youngsters, however, enjoyed an excellent
month, beating Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup and then Charlton in
the quarter-finals as they progressed to the semi-final stages of
the competition.
