It was no contest, really.
Daryl Murphy's wonder-strike against Wigan in February has
been voted Sunderland's best goal from last season.
Murphy scored to put Sunderland 2-0 ahead in a crucial game at
the Stadium of Light.
Andy Reid picked out Murphy with a cross-field pass. All that
remained was for the striker to cut inside on his left foot and
unleash a 25-yard shot which crashed in off the underside of the
bar.
Roy Keane said of the goal: "It was worthy of winning any
game, it was an outstanding strike, Murphy's a talented
boy."
In our poll, Murphy's goal got 57% of the votes ahead of
Reid's strike against West Ham in March and Kieran
Richardson's second goal against Portsmouth in January.
