West Brom boss Tony Mowbray is chasing German Under-21 midfielder Marc-Andre Kruska, the rising star of Borussia Dortmund's squad.
Mowbray has been picking up eyeing European talent for the Baggies and his spies watched the Dortmund dynamo in action against France in Magdeburg at the weekend.
Kruska, 21, has been linked with several top clubs but Albion may be able to move in first and give him the chance to play regularly in the Premier League rather than join an established giant and be in their shadow squad.
The Baggies chief has been looking to bring in new midfield blood after strengthening his defence in the last transfer window.
